The Difference Six Months Makes
Over the past six months, the Leduc Community Hospital Foundation has made remarkable progress in supporting healthcare initiatives throughout the region.
An Enduring Tribute
Earlier this year, in a heartfelt tribute to the late Dr. Elliot Sampson and through the generosity of Dr. Sampson’s family, the Foundation launched the inaugural Dr. Elliot Sampson Professional Development Award. This award supports continuing education for healthcare professionals in the region. The first recipient, Sarah Lenarduzzi, a Registered Nurse in the Leduc Community Hospital Emergency Department, exemplifies the dedication and excellence the award seeks to honour. Additionally, the 2025 Healthcare Studies Scholarships were awarded to Jerome Jacob and Alan Ritson, helping to support the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Our Community Steps Up
Community fundraising events continue to play an essential role in the Foundation’s activities. Smile Cookie Week, held April 28–May 4, brought joy and sweet treats to Leduc and a $12,966 donation to the Foundation thanks to the generous support of Tim Hortons at Leduc Common and Leduc Woodbend Market. On June 6, 128 golfers and 24 volunteers embraced a lively Mulligan’s Island theme at our Annual Charity Golf Classic at the Leduc Golf Course and Country Club. Together we had boatloads of fun and raised over $32,000 for local healthcare. Local business Bra Necessities also joined the cause with their “Shop for a Cause” event in late July, selecting the Foundation as its first beneficiary—an inspiring example of community-driven support.
If you are a local business owner or community member interested in contributing to the Foundation, consider hosting a third-party fundraiser. It is a meaningful way to give back and we’re here to support you every step of the way.
All these fundraising efforts have contributed to securing vital equipment for the hospital. Current campaigns are now focused on fundraising for a LIFEPAK® 35 Monitor/Defibrillator and a C-MAC® HD Series GlideScope, essential tools that will enhance emergency care and diagnostics at our hospital.
A New Face and Fresh Perspective
In August, the Foundation welcomed Joy Jeong as its new executive director. With a strong background in nonprofit leadership, advocacy and community engagement, Joy brings fresh vision and energy to the team. She is eager to strengthen our relationships with our partners and supporters, and build on the Foundation’s legacy of community-driven impact.
What's On the Horizon
Looking ahead, this November the Foundation will host three popular events: a Wills Planning Night, an Estate Planning Night and the Fall Online Auction. Online auction details will be shared soon via social media, our website lchfoundation.ca and the Be Well Bulletin e-newsletter. Donations for the auction are already being accepted; contact us at info@lchfoundation.ca to learn more.
